This year, Melbourne Skydeck presents Sky High New Year’s Eve, a once-a-year special event with limited spaces available. The event will run on New Year’s Eve from 8pm until 1am on New Year’s Day, so you can continue dancing the night away into the New Year.
Melbourne Skydeck’s observation deck on level 88 of the Eureka Tower offers a unique vantage point. It is known for being the highest in the southern hemisphere, providing an unparalleled view of the city’s famous fireworks display from various angles, illuminating the night sky in a dazzling array of colours set off from rooftops around the city. It makes the perfect spot for capturing those memorable midnight moments with family and friends.
If you’re heading to Melbourne Skydeck for New Year’s Eve, the food and drink set up to make things easy — your ticket already includes a drinks package (beer, wine and sparkling) plus roaming gourmet canapés, and you can upgrade to a premium drinks package if you would like spirits included.
If you’d rather pick and choose, you can also purchase additional drinks or cocktails at Bar 88, which offers a diverse selection of cocktails, wine, beers, and light snacks with the city skyline as your backdrop.
Sky High New Year’s Eve is a night filled with exciting entertainment, including DJ performances this year from a Saxophone DJ and your ticket will also include access to the Voyager Theatre and Edge Experience all in the lead up to midnight!
Before you head up to level 88, journey through Melbourne in virtual reality at the Voyager Theatre. This is the largest 6D virtual-reality theatre of its kind in the world and it will be available to visit from 8pm to 9:30pm on our New Year’s Eve event.
Dare to step out on the Edge as it is the world-first glass cube that suspends you 285m above the ground and extends 3 metres from the building, how awesome is that! On our Sky-High New Year’s Eve event this experience will be operating from 8pm to 11pm during this event, so make sure to make to experience the ride for yourself! It’s not one you’ll want to miss!
Being located so centrally, there are a number of ways to get to Melbourne Skydeck, from whichever direction you’re coming from! The Skydeck is just a short walk from the Arts Precinct tram stop on St Kilda Rd, and just across the river from Flinders St train station. Make sure to keep an eye on the official Melbourne New Year’s Eve website for all relevant details on road closure, detours, or public transport adjustments.
Alternatively, if you’d like to drive in, there are a number of parking lots in the vicinity. Prior booking is recommended as spots fill up quickly. As always, if you’re planning to drive, please drink responsibly.
If you are looking for something to do on New Year’s Day itself, Melbourne Skydeck will still be open during the day from 12pm – 5pm.
